Salido vs Lopez, if Salido hadn`t won this one, I think he would of dropped of the radar. Biggest wins in his career against an undefeated Lopez and in his own turf. It was war and he delivered everything he had.

Roy Jones Jr. Being robbed at such a young age in the Olympics could have disheartened Roy; if the Amateur ranks is like this then how will the Pro's be? But he never gave up and still.

All of these fights that Evander had to really dig in, either win or loose.

Also the Tyson 2 fight, getting your ear bit like that, Holyfield could have easily cried off but hell no, he went back for Tyson again

Could you imagine if that was Hopkins who got bit on the ear He would have rolled around on the canvas 10 minutes and then got took out of the ring on a stretcher

How would people rate Tommy Hearns' ability to fight in adversity?

Hearns was a true warrior who always dug deep. Even early in his career against Randy Shields, a green Hearns came through a tough test. Against Leonard, he almost got stopped in the 7th round, yet he recovered and almost won. He even got up after getting dropped by Hagler, despite being completely out of it. Against Roldan, Dewitt, Leonard 2, Barkley 2, Delgado and the Virgil Hill, Tommy fought through adversity, injuries and won titles

Yeah he was even in trouble at one point v Dennis Andries. Tommy knew his punch resistance was poor but he loved nothing more to get in the trenches and go for broke with opponents. Even in the Leonard 2 fight, Hearns was badly shaken in the 5th and 12th but he still fought through it. If he had Haglers chin he could have been the greatest of all time.

Tommy took risks he didn't have to, but he was an entertainer

He deserved the decision in the Leonard rematch, but he had to take a serious beating especially in the 12th to survive.

If he had Hagler's chin, he would have been unstoppable! Imagine if Hearns was undefeated with wins over Leonard, Hagler, Benitez, Duran, Hill

Some single examples:-

- Danny Williams dislocating his shoulder, but comes back to win by KO.

- Carl Froch TKO12 Jermain Taylor

- Arthur Abraham fighting with a broken jaw in the first Miranda fight.

- Ali with his broken jaw vs Norton

Great list, so many great contributions.

Boxing more fully tests its participants than any other sport. I'm very much drawn to the human drama, of seeing a man overcome adversity to beat another man.

Great thread.

some good examples, could have even put the mighty Audley Harrison in their

What do people think Ali's best examples are?

Henry Cooper?

Something in his eye v Liston?

Broken jaw v Norton?

Withstanding Foremans punishment?

Getting through the thriller in Manilla?

Ali was about to pull out between the 14th and 15th rounds in Manilla only for Frazier to do it first. Regardless those 14 rounds were adversity

Think Larry Holmes was a good example as well, knocked down many times but always came back strong.
You right about Holmes, when he fought Norton for the title, that showed what he was made of. Norton had his ass on queer street and Holmes dug down and started turning that shit up. That was my first time seeing a fighter doing that and it inspired me.
