I think he knows in his heart of hearts he would lose now if he fought Haye.
Otherwise he'd want to try and ko him which Wlad didn't get close to doing which irritated Vitali. He hasn't added to his legacy the last 2-3 years so why not do so if you are confident you can beat the best fighter that isn't related to you? If Vitali retires then Haye is fucked.
Over an extended period of time his HW record is going to be seen for what is it ... OK but not overly impressive. If he wants to improve it he'll probably have to make at least one statement against a top ten HW (which Chisora wasn't quite) before having another shot a Wlad. What-ever the fuck happens with Vitali, I wish it sooner rather than later ... I respect Haye's abilities and charisma but I think he's actually bad for boxing ... every potential fight he's linked to turns into an endless soap opera. |
