This is a character he's playing in a movie that's about to/has just opened.

He's taking it too far but he's taking the piss IMO. Because he isn't in the best place at the moment it looks even worse.

He tried taking the piss at the start but it really didn't work, then he dug a hole too deep and completely lost the plot.... No doubt he is wrestling with some demons.
