I'd imagine in some ways it'd be easier for a guy of that age. You kinda have your life on track. When your in your early 20s or late teens you have so many options it confuses you. When your 27, you probably put in your 40 hours of work, jog every morning before work, and then do everything else after work. When your young you have homework and work outside of school and unless you want to put all your eggs in the boxing basket then you can't properly dedicate yourself to it. To be honest, when I was in high school, I had so much homework I had to give up sports entirely by grade 12 if I wanted to get into a top university, since I graduated I can do what I want. And I am hesitant to going back to another big corporate job that will enslave me and take all my time.

Personally, I never would have had the type of discipline I have now when I was in my teens or even mid twenties. Yes, my physical potential would have been greater, but I would not have had the type of diet, cardio and training discipline that I have now. Older me would whip younger me's ass. So yeah, that's just one advantage - greater discipline. Obviously not applicable to all, but applicable to many.
Never thought of it that way before. A lot of times I wish I started like 10+ years ago, but the same applies to me. Wouldn't have been able to dedicate as much time and money to the way I eat/train now. But if I started younger and enjoyed boxing as much as I do now, and the possibility of going pro was a viable option, that might've given me extra motivation to get everything else in check and train harder. Who knows though.

I'm an English teacher, so I guess I'm the one who gives out all that 'boxing career destroying' homework

I just played videogames and got high when I was in school, now I stopped smoking and barely drink anymore, plus I have the discipline to eat healthily and exercise everyday along with other things. I can also afford a high quality protein diet. I'm going to go eat some steaks.

I'm nearly 30 and having my first amateur fight this season, i feel okay about it. If your a novice at 19 or a novice at 30, don't see much odds. Your still a novice. i actually trained on and off for years casually, so maybe not a total beginner, e.g. learning stance etc, but even so thats still completely different to being in there with something that hits back. Probably slightly more speed and reactions at that age, but I'll have my man strength and mental strength!!! Gonna win the abas by 34!!
