Thoughts on Veeraphol Sahaprom?

Seems he held the WBC Bantamweight title from 1998-2005, has three wins over Nishioka, all of them in Japan, and I think 14 title defenses?

Underrated fighter at all? Watching his first fight with Nishioka and he seems to have some skills.

Watch the fourth one. He batters Nishioka.

Watch his fight with Daorung Chuvatana. A brilliant technical battle between two brilliant Thai's.

Sahaprom was not great but he was bloody good. Very accurate right hand. Former Raja' champion Nak Muay. Two decent wins over popular Tatsuyoshi (who had fucked eyes) got the better of series with pre-prime Nishioka, who wasn't up to much before super bantam IMO.

Watch his shoot out with Nana Konadu. Konadu made Sahaprom change his fighting style he hit him so hard.

Will check him out more after I get some studying done. It seems I'm into boxing the most when I have a full workload at school.

Strange that I've never really heard of him until I was looking at Nishioka's record.

The Ring gave precedence to the likes of Austin when the bantamweight Titlists weren't fighting each other. Sahaprom had a pretty consistent run, but wasn't an all time great IMO. Not the kinda' name that gets thrown around too often nowadays but a quality fighter nonetheless. I actually rank him very high in my list of greatest Thai's.

I think Sahaprom was the best of the splinter champs of his time.never know for sure though.The American based Bantams like Austin and Marquez were heavily overrated compared to him by most of the boxing media back in the day.It's not that Sahaprom had beaten the kind of fighters that ensured he should be seen as the best(especially without unifying)but he wasn't fighting worse either and was marginalised by comparison.

At his best he sometimes reminds me of kalambay.a more stripped down box-punching version.

Agree (with lora) that he was the best of the alphabetty spaghetti champs and that Austin and Marquez were overrated in comparison, even though Sahaprom's overall record wasn't that much better. Would've been interesting to see him against them because he would've beaten them both imo. Him and Austin might have been a bit of a snoozer if Austin sat back on his height/reach and Sahaprom was too patient/wary, but Marquez-Sahaprom would have been a nice clash of styles.

Oh, and Choi is one of the khan's generals reincarnated after dying gloriously against the Teutonic Knights, though not before he killed fuckloads of them with a single haymaker bomb that didn't even land. They just saw him draw him arm back and then literally shit themselves lifeless inside their armour. Blew their sphincters clean inside out like one those tooters you get at parties. Then he just vanished into the Force like Alec Guinness.....oh fuck it, Boxed Ears carries this sort of shite of ten times better....
