Haye didn't just lose - he shat his pants and gave up on trying to win. Immediately. He offered almost nothing. He knew he was being beaten out of sight - and he didn't do anything. It's extraordinary, really, that people still think of him highly enough to make these type of fights. But I suppose he's fast and looks the part. He might be competitive with ATG heavies, but I personally don't see it that way.

Jack Dempsey would be far from elite today. And I don't think Haye's behavior against Wlad is indicative of how he would do against Dempsey. You could use that same kind of reasoning to predict that he would lose against Chisora, for example. Did you pick Haye to beat Chisora?

If Haye showed zero ring IQ against Wlad, he would have been knocked out. He was trying to prevent that from happening and he did. I don't like how Haye acted in that fight either, but what does it have to do with Haye against Dempsey? How is Dempsey comparable to Wlad? If nothing else, Dempsey would force Haye to fight - something Wlad didn't do. Unlike Wlad, Dempsey would be coming forward at Haye until one of them gets stopped. It's a completely different dynamic than Haye-Wlad.

McGrain has accurately summed up Haye in his several posts on this thread. Largely due to his mental make-up, Haye is less than the sum of his parts.

The broken toe malarkey was cringeworthy in it's embarrasment - do you think guys like Dempsey, Frazier, Marciano and others would whine about a broken toe after a loss? They are made of sterner stuff - they are fighters, David Haye is a good athlete who happens to be a part-time boxer. If the competitive flame truly burned within his heart, he would call out Wlad for a rematch, not go for his older declining Brother.

It is the equivalent to Jimmy Connors losing to John McEnroe and then calling out his brother Patrick. It is a disgrace to the legendary brave men who have been Heavyweight Champion of the World, and the dozens of brave men who failed valiantly to take the title. It is symbolic of the reasons also why boxing is going down the toilet year by year.
