What's the Difference With These Types of Headgear?

My gym has the face bar type headgear like this:

I bought some cheaper headgear with the cheek protectors (diff brand but like this):

When I spar the newer guys, I just use my own headgear with the cheek protectors. There's this one more experienced guy that always kicks my ass though, and I feel the punches a little more than I'd like to when I wear my own headgear sparring him. I sparred him today wearing the face bar headgear that my gym has, but I took a couple hard hits to the face and the bridge of my nose is red/bruised/swollen. I found out I gotta bring my own headgear for my 1st fight next month and I'm trying to decide if I should use the one I already have or buy the face bar style. What exactly is the difference between the two? Does one style typically offer more nose protection than the other? Thanks.

If you're having amateur bouts you will need to have competition headgear. Usually with AIBA sticker.
Most go for Adidas.
Unless it's white collar boxing you can't use either of those headguards when fighting

It's not an amateur bout. Mine's not at least. It's a 2-day event with different age groups competing, younger guys on the 1st day and older guys on the 2nd. I guess the level I'll be competing at is white collar, hobby boxers in their late 20s. My coach told me to either use the headgear I have or to buy the face bar style. I recently bought boxing shoes and training gloves though, so I don't know if I wanna spend $100+ on new headgear. Not unless it'll offer significantly more protection, but since my nose got busted up wearing the face bar style, I'm not sure that it will. I've also gotten a black eye before wearing the face bar style.

That's a shitty facebar headgear. Do yourself a favor if you're someone who gets there nose busted up often then get the cleto reyes or winning facebar headgear. Usually everlast will make some pretty bad quality gear unless you get the high end stuff like everlast mx

All the facebar heagear I've seen in Korea cost roughly $150-200 for decent ones, and the only choices I have are Adidas, Everlast, or Korean brands. Imported brands cost a lot more here than they do in the US or elsewhere, but for some reason Everlast headgear is slightly cheaper than the Korean brands. I actually did see a Korean brand selling facebar headgear for $80, but even among the Korean brands its a no-name brand.

Has anyone used, or even seen, this model from Everlast before (EL Pro)?

For some reason I can only find this model for sale on Korean sites. It costs roughly $155.

It looks similar to the Safemax Pro headgear, but the Safemax is lace up in the back and I noticed the material on the inside is different. The one on top is velco. The Safemax I guess is a Winning knockoff and I've read mixed reviews about it.

So just to recap, my choices for my fight are:
a) use my cheap Korean brand cheek-protector headgear I already have
b) buy the Everlast EL Pro headgear for $155
c) pay a little more for the best Korean brand headgear and hope its better than Everlast
d) pay a little less for lesser-known Korean brand headgear and hope its better than the one I already have

Depends on how often you'll use it / how much you value your nose as is. I haven't sparred once in years due to my nose being broken twice, plus I've been busy with work and school. But, at this point, if I ever did return to spar, I would only do so if I got top-of-the-line facebar gear. I don't want to deal with broken nose / possibility of needing to have it reset.

Lately I've only been sparring once or twice a week. My main concern is for my actual fight. If I'm getting black eyes/bruised nose from sparring with the gym's facebar headgear, I'm real concerned about getting hurt in my fight with my cheek protector headgear. This is just a hobby, so I don't really wanna spend much more money on it than I already have. But at the same time I kinda value my nose as is. Plus I've noticed I'm getting a lot of pimples on my forehead from using the gym's headgear. Right now I'm leaning toward buying the $155 Everlast headgear or buying the cheap $80 no-name facebar headgear.

And sorry to hear about your nose. What kinda headgear were you wearing when it got broken each time?

To me, the bar that goes across the ear is a great feature.
In the last 6 months i've had my hearing go fuzzy after getting a clean/flush shot to the ear. I don't know why ALL headgear doesn't come with that bar. But my next one will definitely have it. I don't know how many more of those I can take without incurring permanent damage.

Everelast has headgear aiba sticker on them for amateur boxing,i own one and its great.Doesnt slip at all,really comfy and protects your ears and head in general,except you face ofc.

I have as well the second one in the picturewoth the cheek protectors,and it really sucks,i cant see shit in that(maybe just need to get used to)and its slips a lot when it gets wet from sweat cause of the material inside.
I havent used headgear with the bar across the face,but i hear its great.

I ended up buying some Korean brand face bar headgear for $100 through my coach. Haven't used it to spar yet, but it feels real tight when I tried it on at home. I feel a lot of pressure on my eyebrows and it's a bit uncomfortable/distracting. But if I wear it any looser, it'll move around too much if I get hit. Is this extra tight fit normal with new face bar head gear? You think it'll fit more comfortably once it's "broken in"?

You will see.I think it will adjust after "mileage".
My first headgear,i couldnt see shit,hurt my forehead as well and after few sparring got used to it and it was fine.

Dont bother with the wider model of Cleto Reyes facebar gear. Its shit.
Dont have any experience with the older model.

Now i have Winning FG-2900 but only sparred one time with it so cant tell anything conclusive.
