Default Re: Benn, Jones, Jackson, McClellan: who hit the hardest?

At MW, I have McClellan first, then Jones, then Benn and then Jackson. Jackson was much more devastating at JMW and McClellan stopped him twice and he was never the same after that. I can't see Jackson catching Jones, but I could see him catching Benn. Benn was awkward and fast so Jackson would have to catch him in the beginning rounds or he will get drowned. I just fell the other three were much bigger and stronger than Jackson.

Jackson
McClellan
Jones
Benn

Although I could flip the last two. Much of Jones power was really speed. Fighters couldn't react.

This.

People are so keen to nut-hug Jones -- and are completely correct that his power gets under-rated -- that they're trying to inflate it into something it isn't.

Jones is at the bottom of those fighters anyway you slice it. The other three, I'm not bothered if people put them whichever way round they feel; they all have merits.

Please....Benn couldn't carry his power up one weight division.

Benn
McClellan
Jackson
Jones

if they were to hit a punch bag, this would be the order.
their different styles, and different ways of delivering a punch, don't really give a true account of their power when in the ring.

example: jones would move around the ring and look for his opponents to make a mistake, thus having them open up a bit more so jones can get clean shots off. benn on the other hand uses pressure, so his opponents would keep their guard up most of the time because benn is right on top of them. therefore limiting benn getting as many clean shots off.

jones is a very good puncher, but he's not in the same league as the other three. it was just his style that made him look a bigger puncher than he was.

And it was tremendous how Benn managed to carry his power up to cruiserweight (when he was a natural welterweight/junior-middleweight); bouncing Piper's, Gent's and Malinga's shoulder blades off the canvas and shaking up Eubank in their return and McClellan...

The strange thing with Jones, was that his power shots were thrown with his feet off the ground! I think he just had great tendon strength and range of motion in the shoulders.

McClellan clearly had very heavy hands. And Jackson - every shot was right on target.

Benn? Just raw power!

Jackson, McClellan, Benn, Jones

It is close.

Jones victims may have had difficulty seeing the shot coming, and the shot you dont see usually results in a KO.

ie most Benn super-middle opponents were 185+ in the ring and Benn actually had great trouble getting as high as 168. Lenzie Morgan looked like a giant!

I'm not sure if I would use that as a indication of their relative punching power

Maybe
1: Jackson

common opponent:
Benn, McClellan: Saunderline

2: McClellan

3: Jones

4: Benn

According to this logic, Holyfield is a harder puncher than Tyson right?
You do know that Douglas dived in the Holyfield fight, right?

Could Jones have stopped the G-Man? I don't think so
I can't see how that is relevant
