What a great fight, i had Rios to win rounds 10-12 i didn't think he would stop him that early. I just hope Arum doesn't feed Rios to Pacquiao next but he will.

It was a cracking fight, I don't think the stoppage was that premature, Alvarado was taking a bit of a pasting and was about to be brutally knocked out.
Brandon Rios is a beast, say what you want about his ability and how limited he is, but he's one of the most exciting fighters in boxing, has a very good chin and can crack. I'd love to see him in with Matthysse, even though Lucas would massacre him IMO, it'd be great while it lasts. |

Brandon Rios is a badman. Didnt think the stoppage was premature because they were dishing of shit loads of punishment to each other from the start |

What a boring fight. I am not entertained by this sort of fight, Two sluggers. No thanks. What is so great about two bar room brawlers? They are not word class boxers either of them, but world class brawlers they are. That is not boxing. That is just bang bang bang. Or hit hit hit, 'who cares if I get hit back.' That stuff was horrible. I only watched a few rounds (not live, I skipped forward a bit too). When I watch that sort of stuff it makes me appreciate MMA and I hate MMA. People seem to love Gatti Vs Ward but Gatti and Ward were both bums of the month. You may as well get two guys from the local boozer and sling them in the ring and put it on tv and you will get your 'fight of the year'.

Seriously though, neither fighter gave a shit about defense. Just two offensive bangers with iron chins. Boring as hell. Same thing over and over again. Me? I want to see some skill. Now Amir Khan Vs Marcos Maidana, that was a great fight. Joe calzaghe vs jeff lacy, that was a great fight. David Price Vs Audley Harrison - great fight. One sided beatdowns by a skilled boxer are the best.
BTW I also find pure boxing boring as hell (e.g. Andre Ward). My favourite fighters to watch are Mayweather, Pacquaio, Khan, Brook, Price, Bellew. Anytime these guys are on I will definitely watch. I thought Martinez Chavez was a good fight also. |

you prefer one sided uncompetitive fights? and there is defence in there trust me, there'll have been loads of subtle defence, sure they may take a lot of shots but your average pub brawlers could no way produce that type of action, theres a lot of skill involved in infighting like that and maybe the attitude that its unskilled is why its dying out? to me that was a really high level fight, theres more than one way to win a fight, too many people equate "skill" to boxing like andre dirrell, jab hold run jab hold run etc.and you didnt like that fight but werent tempted to watch donaire nishioka? |
