gsp has a better resume than silva, 2 hall of famers at their peak in penn and hughes(avenged his losses), so wherever silva is in at lists imo gsp is higher

He's beaten better fighters than Silva has by a mile Who on Silva's resume comes close to prime Cro Cop or Nog?

And fuck the UFC.

Fedor has two career defining wins that no one can nitpick. He beat Prime Nog and Crocop at the peak of their careers. Two future HoFers and ATGs.

Anderson has no career defining wins, but his title reign is very impressive, but so was Fedors. He was undefeated for nearly a decade and he was truly the undisputed HW champion.

Fedor clearly, but Anderson has more than a chance to take it. If he fights and beats Jon Jones that will surely cement his spot.

Fedor gets the Iron Mike treatment.. I don't focus on two names throughout a resume I look at the big picture.

Fedor crashed and burned, so please check the record books because my man Anderson Silva submitted a guy who punched Fedor out.

Clearly Fedor he fought everyone not named Randy Couture but we know they wanted that fight but it didnt happen but still his resume is undeniable one of the best and better than Silvas

I guess you can ask "Was he physically capable of beating Werdum, Bigfoot and Hendo?"

If he was, then his losses must surely count against him.
What do you think of Silva's losses to Chonan and Takase then?.

Both Fedor and Anderson suffered embarrassing losses that they shouldn't have when they weren't at their peak, whether you choose to hold it against them when looking at their overall careers is up to you (I don't) but you can't rip into one guy over his losses and give the other a pass.

Fedor has the better wins, Anderson has the deeper resume, either has a case for GOAT but I'm still going with Fedor.

It's not the same, Fedor was the #1 ranked fighter in the world two years ago.

Fabricio Werdum was not supposed to beat Fedor

It was a shocking upset. No shame in losing, but glossing over 2 TKO and submission losses with 3 cans is not a good look.

I think Fedor is more like the Roy Jones Jr of MMA. When Fedor's athleticism declined a bit he became average. But when he was at the top of his game he was unbeatable.

Silva is a bit closer to Ali. He combines the full use of athleticism, heart, and excellent skills.

It's nearly a tie between Silva and Fedor but I'm giving a slight edge to Silva due to his intelligence, ability to fight at a high level at an old age, and overall skill set.

Dan Henderson and Werdum are cans?

Bigfoot's not even a can, let alone Werdum and fucking Hendo.

But I agree that all this "he wasn't Fedor" bullshit is revisionist history. He was entirely capable of beating Werdum, he was heavily favoured to beat Werdum, and the only reason he lost the way he did was because he got sloppy. If Fedor of the Nog fights carelessly leaped right into Werdum's guard and started flailing at him without establishing any kind of base, he would have been submitted too. His technique and motivation had devolved, not his body.

Fedor's athleticism had not declined much at all. His hands were fast, accurate and powerful. He was physically very capable of winning. RJJ jumped around in weight too much and suddenly found that he couldn't pull the trigger any more. He couldn't fight like he was used to fighting. Fedor wasn't like that. Athleticism had exactly nothing to do with his loss to Werdum.

Interesting how polarized the votes are too. Out of 38 voters, I am the only one who thinks that you can make a valid case for either man, depending on what aspects of performance you value over others.

For example, I personally value longevity and consistency. Others place more significance on how you look on your best night. Different strokes for different folks.
