It had shades of Ali-Liston with just a hint of a the brooding menace Tyson had against Spinks

Agreed. Almost gave up boxing after that fight. Every other fight ever will pale in comparison to that master class display of skill.

Great spot Assasin, Dino self pwned himself real bad there, it hopefully won't stop him coming back into this thread though because he usually makes some excellent contributions on here.

Spot on pal, Jones looked good in those 5 fights, what makes the Calzaghe win even more special is that Calzaghe's hands were shot and that Roy's weak punch resistance wouldn't be a factor in the fight . . . . it would all be decided purely on a skill level. Thats probably why so many boxing experts actually tipped Jones to win the fight before hand.

Decent victory maybe, but a shit fight, pretty boring. Jones did nothing the whole fight and was clearly shot. Joe was a little past his prime but this was always Joe´s win and it was nothing grand. It was a sideshow compared to the Kessler and Hopkins fights.

why do you people like this guy so much? How many early stoppage wins did he have? How many prime fighters did he fight?

That reminds of Hopkins reaction when Calzaghe offered him a record payday in 2002

If you remember correctly, Roy had now adapted his body back to 175 and was back on a good winning streak, dismantling Trinidad who had destroyed Mayorga and William Joppy as he cruised through the weight divisions. The fight was only Calzaghe's 2nd at the weight and he travelled to america despite the likes of Hopkins, Lennox Lewis, Tarver, and Johnson all predicting that Jones would beat him. What made the performance even more amazing imo was that Calzaghe recovered from a brutal illegal forearm in the 1st round, only to get up and completely bamboozle Jones with superb lateral movement and delicious 4 and 5 piece combinations throughout. What makes the win even better in my eyes is that after the fight, Roy then went on to produce a clinical exhibition V Jeff Lacy and then gave his own virtuoso masterclass versus Glen Johnson conqueror Omar Sheika proving that he still had plenty left in the tank. Your thoughts please?
Only if you're a ****in idiot noob, troll, or UKunt Elite team *****....

Only a handful like him...Its why they feel the need to constanly try to show how much of an ATG he is...If he's as great as they make him out to be, why do they need to constanly try to hype of his career...most ATG career's speak for themselves...Cant truly say the same for Calz.

It was a decent win against a fighter who was on the decline. He wasn't completely shot as people make Roy out to be at the time, but he certainly wasn't the fighter he was in his prime. That said, Calzaghe was hardly in his prime either, which lends a bit more weight to the notion of it being a decent victory.

I could go into great detail but I'd probs end up coming across as though I'm giving Joe too much credit which I'm not trying to. Decent win, nothing more, nothing less...
Your welcome to go into more detail pal, I always welcome logical boxing debate in my threads, don't let the delusional fanboys spoil your esb experience.
