Not sure how much difference it would have made for Geale if he'd relinquished instead of being stripped of the title? Either way he doesn't hold it any more, and if he'd relinquished it, it may have pissed the WBA off more - never wise to burn your bridges when you don't have to.

Geale isn't stupid, he knew if he faced Golvokin and lost that his big payday against Choc was gone, Mundine is only interested coz Geale has the belts or at least 1 now

Do you also think that if Sergio Martinez hadn't got injured, Geale wouldn't have fought him if the deal could have been done?

I think Golovkin is a lose lose situation for most fighters.

Martinez on the other hand is very well known in the States and even if Geale lost against him he would get the exposure etc. that comes with fighting someone like Martinez

I don't think the WBA belt matters in the whole scheme of things. If Geale beats Mundine he'll have a chance to fight GGG anyway because both have belts and it will be a unified title fight which gives it more sparkle.

If Mundine wins he'll be happy to have the IBF belt and he will have loads of options especially in the states.

If both belts had been stripped then that's a different story altogether.

Secretly i don't think Geale is that unhappy because he can avoid GGG without it looking like a duck by accepting a revenge fight that will earn him close to 5x more money.... No one will bag him for that.

But do you have a problem with the WBA already accepting Hatton's proposal for another Interim WBA middleweight title fight in the UK later this year? Won't this start the whole interim/regular/super champion mandatory debarcle again?

Yes i agree with you assesment on Sturm, he must have been paying the big bucks to keep the WBA happy.

The WBA are bullSh*t, what a corrupt money hungry organistation they are. Not to mention the WBC arnt much better.

I didn't know that about Hatton.... That is a joke, The guy has been retired for ages and comes back for an interim title shot in his first fight?
