And not a single Gavilan jab shall be thrown.

Yeah man, Gavs was a scary mother back in the day. He kinda Roy Jones'd it near the end of his career though but his epic chin saw him through out of his best weight.

I'd favour Ray and Ray on their best days. Hearns as well.

Benitez...? Nah.

Oscar!

I think Leonard, Napoles and Robinson beat him, as well as Ratford obviously

I think on the sly I overrate Napoles somewhat and he to me seems a h2h beast, even more so than Gavilan.

The likely result in almost all instances, kfish.

Haven't read too much into the Ratford losses honestly, but I'm with S_S regarding Womber fight which has been up on the tube for a few years now. Funny enough, that was about the only "loss" he took when he really hit his stride by late 1950 up to the failed attempt at Olson's Middleweight crown in '54 followed by the Saxton debacle -- a 38-bout winning streak beating Billy Graham (x3), Carmen Basilio, Gil Turner, Johnny Bratton (x3; no draw), Bobby Dykes, Chuck Davey, Tiger Jones, Gene Hairston, Walter Cartier, among others.

Seemed to be particularly great when the stakes got higher, despite all of the odd losses, questionable decisions and past-prime defeats (around half the total).

Can't see Napoles beating Gavilan or Rodriguez.

I like Kid against both Luis and Jose, but neither fight would be easy.

He may well need to come from behind and stop Rodriguez to win.

Luis was such a great point accumulator.

Any boxer type with a great inside game is hell to beat.

Truly feel Napoles' skin was made to order against Gavilan despite not giving much at all in terms of ability and skill, if any. LMR would be difficult... But so would Leonard and Hearns.

Basically, it boiled down to Gavilan loses a couple of rounds to Benitez, but wins. Hearns is a head-to-head monster himself, and I picked Gavilan by SD knocking Hearns down along the way. Kid's record doesn't accurately represent his power, IMO.

I'd favor SRL, and Montreal Duran would be an interesting prospect although yes, Gavilan would probably win again.
Yeah I hate that shit.

I've had some epic posts disappear into the ether over the years.
