My first fight many years ago brought me a good bit of anxiety, not about facing my opponent, but doing so in front of so many people. After the first couple of blows landed, I forgot about all the people and it was nothing more than an intense sparring session.
Point being, don't let distractions get in the way of how you do in the ring before even climbing between the ropes. Try to relax since all that nervousness can sap some energy from you. Good luck this Sunday. Oh, and I got a UD for my efforts. |

I agree with the guys who said "have fun".
I know it sounds counterproductive when you're in a tense battle situation. But in my first fight, one of my trainers told me to do exactly that, "just have fun". And that totally put my mind at ease, cuz I knew - everyone I spar with at my gym is bigger and badder than the guy I was about to fight. So I knew I wasn't gonna come across anything worth being nervous about. And guess what, it totally worked. I was calm, the guy tried to murder me in the first 30 seconds of the fight. Then as the fight wore on, he gassed - I turned it up, and I won a UD, Good luck, and let us know how it goes. |

Hey guys I lost a decision but everyone said it could have gone either way and the guy i was fighting was from there so that might have had something to do with it. That being said out of 25 fights or so everyone said it was the best and everyone was congratulating me even though i lost, even the guy who organized it thanked me. The entire fight was pretty much just us nonstop punching each other with no defense . Before the fight my coach kept telling me to press the attack but at the beginning of the fight the other just came out and punched me ,me thinking if the ref doesn't see me punching back he's gonna stop it so both of us pretty much just kept punching. First round was extremely close and could have gone either way, second round i annihilated him and even made him get a standing eight count. The third round i got my ass beat by his right hook (he was a lefty). we both made each other really bloody and i even got a cut over the left eye. Even though i lost I still feel like a winner because I know everyone that saw that fight won't forget it.
