Was watching this on boxnation last night for the first time in a couple of years. Now i know it was a massive occasion with a great win for ricky , one of the best wins for a british fighter, but is it just me or looking back on it was the fight an ugly frustarting mess to watch?
The reffing was terrible , all ricky done was foul, maul , swing wildly and butt kostya all night. I felt sorry for tszyu. And the man didnt whinge to dave parris once. What a warrior. Just soaked it up and got on with it. Its prob been disscussed loads on here before but would ricky of been thrown out anywhere else except the UK? |

I totally agree mate and im a massive hatton fan , im not a hater , im just just looking at the fight a bit from the outside. Ricky knew he had to fight like that to upset tsyzu's rhtym , thats why he did , but im just saying hed of been penalised loads elsewhere.

Agree entirely, Hatton should have had a point off for the one he threw, utterly blatant, if I was ref I'd have taken one off just for the bloody cheek of doing it right in front of me. Changed the whole outcome of the fight, that's when Tszyu be3gan to weaken.

Meh! Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Makes a nice change the Brit coming off better in a tough scrap like that. Usually they're naive and get worked over.

As I remember it was a decent fight, not watched it since the night so might be wrong. Tszyu gave a great showing and went out like a champ. Hatton was fucking brilliant on his big night. The fouls were neither here nor there on the outcome and both were at it.Both fighters have a style where they can be pulled for infringements so it was to be expected that it would be rough at times.

It was a dirty fight and brutal but Hatton beat him, that can never be taken away from him, it wasnt one of these bogas titles that get bought. It was against the man in the division at the time.
Was it good timing? Course it was, had Tszyu seen better days? Probably but Hatton still went out there and beat him in a hard hard fight, that deserves respect. |

It was frustrating at times, from both fighters. But there were periods for hatton, especially in the second half of the fight where his pressure and the joy coming out of it were a joy to watch. I mean the mauling was caused by both and that shit happens in most fights. The people not immune from criticism of mauling/holding are those fighters that people don't like.
I loved kostya's ponytail. |

The one thing Hatton couldn't do was hang around on the outside so tszyu could time him
Fought a great fight tactically Still got timed at the start of multiple rounds mind you but soaked it up Ferocious performance and never the same fighter again IMO The day after he looked utterly spent But yeah a scrappy war of attrition, that's what Hatton needed it to be |
