i count 25 seconds before he uses his right hand

has this version of wlad ever done this before, usually its about 25 minutes before he does anything other than jab and grab

most of his fights would be over in the first round if he did that more often

also he still does the run backwards using left hand as a barge pole defense, why is he doing that with someone with a longer reach than him

It's a good way to control the opponent and if you look at where Steward engrained him to carry his right hand (the part between the thumb and the main part of the glove at the chin), it's pretty rare that anybody is going to reach him. Him and Steward also used to work on the shoulder roll for when people would lunge in with big shots in situations like that. He has good footwork too, which is a big part of it.

Think in the 2nd Brewster fight he fired it very early.
Not sure if it was earlier than this fight though.
