Default Flintoff looking Slim!!!

Saw Freddie on the Bunce hour last night and his face looked so thin compared to his cricketing days. Anyone any idea what he's likely to weigh? I was thinking he could maybe make cruiserweight once he is fully fit. He can't of been anymore than 15-16 stone while playing international cricket so I can't see him weighing much over 14 stone now.

He's lost 3 Stone since he begain training so I'd expect him to be around 12.5/13 stone.

I like Flintoff as a cricketer but Jesus Christ I want him to get annihilated in a boxing match. What he's doing is embarrassing for the sport, he's using it for some cheap publicity and not caring the long-term affects it'll have.

Him doing this will make people lose respect for the sport and the people in it. People will think "if that fat bloke can lose some weight and can do it then so can anybody."

Flintoff will have 3 or 4 easy fights against blokes who just want some money and will go easy and then retire saying something like "I've achieved what I wanted to achieve".

Absolute joke, the McGuigans ought to be ashamed.

Isn't that really the point though?

Anyone "can" do it, anyone can stroll down to the local boxing gym and take some lessons, if they are good enough they can fight.

This is publicity for boxing, maybe some kids see it and think they want to try it, it's a good thing

Boxing is a fringe sport in this country, so exposure for it is good,, it's the only way we are going to get better

People hate on khan and Audley, but their Olympic success inspired people to have a go, and it's no coincidence we have a lot of good prospects now. 10 years ago we had to get excited about people like Danny Williams because that was the level of prospects we had

Elitist attitudes are nonsense

What are you talking about??? Give the man props for stepping into the ring for crying out loud. Any man brave enough to box should get your respect. I can't see how its going to make anyone respect him or the sport any less, win or lose.

If anything its going to bring some much needed publicity to the UK boxing scene.

I can't see any negatives from this.

Lads, think about this logically. This ISN'T a serious career move, this is just for a ****py reality programme he's doing for Sky1. If he was serious about being a boxer then he'd have some amateur bouts and learn properly like other fighters do. That I'd respect him for.

No, NOT everyone can do it. That's what makes it so respectable. All this **** about it inspiring people is nonsense. All it's doing is making the sport look ridiculous because people will think that it's **** easy to do.

I'm not an "elitist" by any means. I just a fan like all of you. I just don't like it when I feel the sport I enjoy is being made to look like a joke.

Boxing doesn't need the type of "exposure" that he's supposedly going to bring to it. It's doing fine enough already and we've got some cracking heavyweights with a lot of potential. British Boxing doesn't some Z-list celebrity to get in the ring and embarrass himself all for some cheap publicity.

This is good for boxing, just cos you dont like the chap doesnt mean its bad news...we will soon see if he 'should' be doing it when he steps into the ring.

I was going to say Freddie might be ill advised to try pro boxing, based on what I've seen of him so far.

However, in light of recent events, I am concerned that freedom of speech isn't what it used to be in this country, and somebody may wish to take legal action regarding my comments.

Therefore, my view is that Freddie is an outstanding prospect, and looks a million dollars.

He's too old to fight amateur isn't he?

And he'll have a trial bout before he gets a pro licence (might have had it already)

Personally I think if he wants to do it he's fully entitled.

Can't see that he'd be a heavy though. Could surely do cruiser

I dont see what the problem is with all this, if he gets sparked out it shows that boxing is a tough sport and not everyone can do it and if he does well it may bring a lot of new fans over to boxing.
