Kevin "Fast-food Kingpin" Johnson would be literally tackling the WBO heavyweight title in his classic version of the rope-a-dope against Tony "The Tyrannical Tiger" Thompson.

At least 3 things. Lennox Lewis would be fighting into his 40s. Sanders would retire without getting a title shot after being ducked by every paper champ. Tua would finally win HW title.

An American boxer like Tony Thompson who actually has some skills and heart as demonstrated in the first Wlad fight would have strung up a few victories as dominant champ and the U.S. boxing media would show his every fight on H.B.O. They would talk up his potential all-time greatness and discuss him as the next evolution of boxing, men bigger and stronger than past champions like Ali and Foreman. He would then get whipped by a David Haye and the U.S. and Brit press would talk up Haye as the next Ali but with the power and strength of a Joe Frazier or Liston. No exaggeration; that's exactly what would have happened if the Klitschkos hadn't begun their reign of terror a decade ago.

Belts shattered all over the place, and changing hands over and over again.
Some "champs" would be able to hold on to their trinkets for a while because they're getting home decisions and defend against "unknown but dangerous", "never been KO'd", "Old legends" and feeble countrymen. Others would be touted as "multiple champions" because they keep getting titleshot after titleshot and actually manage to win a couple of them. Every country would compare their paper titlists to former greats and fans would have different opinions how they would fair against them. In other words, it would be one sad affair. |
