The suspense would be so great, like knowing a great explosion was going to take place at any time...the moment when Jackson knocks Barkley out colder than a Swedish herring.
It would happen within 4 of 5 rounds. |

I have to give this to Jackson.
I truly believe that there wasn't a chin at 154 or 160 that could withstand him for long. Barkley would need to not be getting hit often, but he'd be getting hit a lot. I tell you this, though; If he was miraculously able to take the punches better then I am envisioning, he'd win. This is, truly, a power vs. durability matchup. |

The accuracy, speed, timing and power would be too much for Barkley. The Blade wasn't exactly a defensive genius, but then again, neither was Gerald McClellan who managed to stop Jackson.
My guess is Barkley is too wide open and gets tagged. |

To replicate that feat, Iran would have to rush him and throw, and he was slower and wider then Gerald. Probably didn't generate the impact, either, Iran was more of a brutal clubber, his big left hook had a ton of loop. |

You either had to bull him, or outbox him. Herol Graham nearly turned the trick but he made one mistake, left himself open for a split second and Julian took that opportunity. Once was all he needed. |

Jackson was not a defensive wizard. In a way this is pickem. Jackson would find Barkley's chin but Barkley would find his also. Sort of a shootout kind of match.

I doubt Barkley will be able to stand up to the power. His only chance is to get to Jackson first (which I won't rule out, it'd be silly to rule it out) and finish him, preferably early. Barkley is simply too open for counter shots, a former lightweight in Duran managed to plant Barkley on the seat of his trunks. Granted Duran could bang at most weights he fought at, still, Duran is a far cry from Jackson in terms of power. Benn managed to clean up things in a single round, so in my opinion, The Hawk has to be the favorite. |

Pretty simple for me. Two tough bangers, and one of 'em is not just a puncher but one of the hardest ever.
Barkley was hurt enough througout his career so despite his size, strength and immeasurable toughness I think he can feasibly come off worse in a shootout here. I agree with Magna, Iran would have to come out bombing or gets timed, so either way he's in the firing line. Barkley has a punchers chance. It would have to be a carbon copy of the Hearns fight, with Iran being lit up and landing a peach. Jackson likely wrecks him. Jackson did a few rounds with one eye against G-Man so I think he can hurt Barkley prime for prime worse than 'The Blade' hurts him. Simple as that really, Jackson wasn't made of china like some would have you believe, he protested the stoppage against McCallum and was more overwhelmed. Barkley was dropped and badly hurt by Sims and Duran and knocked around by Benn, a comparable but inferior pure puncher to Jackson IMO. Probably a bit like the Baek fight. |
