I believe he just has bad management. That's probably the answer here.

What exactly does Pirog gain from making up an injury here? He lost his belt, lost the chance at winning another belt, and lost the chance to be on HBO after he had been dying to get back on the network for years. Oh, and apparently he's so committed to this fabricated injury that he's also not fighting in Russia and forgoing the opportunity to make money there.

Clearly this was all just a brilliant plot concocted to avoid Golovkin

he isnt gaining anything, thats the problem. i just question his desire to be a boxer. much like i do andre dirrell. he will be 30 next year with only 22 fights.

He needs to give Danny Jacobs a rematch ASAP.

Jacobs has been almost as active as Pirog.

Yeah, he gave up his belt to pursue a fight that wasn't forced on him, only to DUCK the guy with a fake injury. Brilliant theory, Tyler-Durden. Top marks, chap.

You either way under estimate Martinez or over estimate Pirog. It's 80-20 at best and that's being generous to Pirog. In fact before even talking about the champ at 160, why not let Pirog take a massive step up first? I recommend a Macklin type or a Andy Lee type. Those would be massive step ups for Pirog atm.

it's a style match ups. the upper body movement would trouble the shit out of him. thats why Macklin did so well the first half. you are underestimating PIrog. he got injured before the GGG fight. and he started his career later then most. he stayed and amature longer. Martinez is good but he's not superman
