The fouling took a lot away from the fight, and I think the height difference between the two, and Moreno's awkward style, contributed to a lot of the low blows Mares threw (though not as blatant as first Agbeko fight). Still, it seems clear that any Moreno opponent should try to get a referee with a history of zero tolerance for low blows.
Effective aggression my ass, he hit arm on most of those wild body shots. I had hit a draw, without the bogus point deduction, and bogus knockdown. Moreno's body work was much better. He hurt Mares to the body on at least three occasions.

i was actually expecting the usual "slick" supporters to complain about the scoring of this fight and how they thought moreno won. yeah moreno was slick but he fought lazy. how would you expect him to get the fight where the other fighter was working 400% harder than him. i haven't scored this fight round by round but moreno might have won 3 or 4 rounds for me at best.

Moreno probably needed one or two fights before facing Mares....just to get his body acclimated to the new weight.....it would have helped with his power and the ability to absorb Abners punches.....Moreno impressed me but he wasn't able to curb Mares pressure enough to fight his fight.

Moreno is a great body puncher.....Going to the body is a lost art for most fighters....but going to the body is not the only thing a fighter needs to beat Abner....it can help....but a string body attack is always great to implement.

Yeah...Maybe not the best time to bring up sweeping generalizations about one style always beating another.

Based on what happened in Broner-Demarco, I think slickness is alive and well as a fighting style...
