Brits are known for hyping their athletes to high heaven when they're doing well (in all sports, not just boxing) then spitting on them and treating them like garbage when they fail. You will find that most true and reasonable fans of the sport feel like you do. He's a likable character who is exciting to watch (win or lose) and has that warrior spirit. Whats not to like?

Tried my best to like Hatton ... and I do. Enjoyed the excitement he brought to his fights.
But his actual fighting style, I have trouble with. I hate the jump in an clinch style. It's boring, bad for the sport, and I feel should be penalized more often.
