They're both very young--actually, very near the same age. Assuming that Canelo can fight around 147-150 and Broner bulks up, could you see this matchup down the road? How would it turn out?
I know I'm thinking ahead of myself, but given the star power each possesses/will possess, we could be seeing this matchup, assuming Broner moves up the weight divisions... |

I doubt it for a couple of reasons.
1. They are the 2 future cashcows and faces of the sport, and GB will want to keep both of them at the top for a long time. 2. By the time they are both at the top, Canelo will have probably gone up another division. |

Canelo is a strong 154 I think 147-150 is out of the question. Maybe in 4-5 yrs supposing Canelo never moves up to 160 and Broner grows into 154. Broner would have many, many fighters he can tango with such as Rios, Mathysse, Garcia, Khan,, Alexander, Bradley, Alvarado, Prescott, Ortiz, Berto, etc and Canelo most likely outgrows 154. There is also Floyd and Gamboa. Broner can give it a try he's still young he can risk it and he has skills often compared to Floyds. Broner vs Garcia, Mathysse, or Khan sounds more interesting.

If Canelo stays at lmw for a few years, I could see it. If he moves up to mw within the next couple of years? Nah.
It will probably be 3-5 years before Broner is ready for lmw, if ever. |

I would never rule anything out. Especially if both guys have wonderful careers and it could be a big ppv fight. I always looked at Canelo as a guy who would dominate 154 for most if not all of his career.
If it happened it would be when both guys are in there 30s. So awhile from now. |

each guy has other opponents. They don't need each other. I do not think Canelo will move up to middleweight anytime soon, and I don't think he can move up much. His body looks sort of stock as it is at 154, so moving up he will just be more stocky and slower. And Broner is not that lean either.

Canelo has had problems making weight at 154. Whether that's laziness or poor training, I don't know. Way, way too big for Broner.
