The whole 1v2 thing according to those who follow linearity.

In theory Ali remained champ till he retired and whilst Holmes assumed the number 1 spot he never beat number 2 and a parkinsons riddled Ali doesn't count.

I think he was the best HW out there from Norton till retirement but I'm just saying his status doesn't hold true when 1v2 is enforced.

I dont consider Hart and Burns as linear champs. Johnson defeating Jefferies is the passing of the torch.

Lineage stops with Tunney but as only one title was at stake it is reestablished with Schmelling. Ditto with Marciano and Patterson.

Holmes defeating Ali maintained genuine lineage. Lewis' retirement has muddied the waters as now with the splintered title it is much harder to reestablish. Who and when it is/was reestablished is open to real debate

I'm surprised you consider a champ
still to be a champ even when he's retired.

Good find, my thoughts, firstly ESPN MUST HAVE HIDDEN FOOTAGE

Corbett - not half bad, balance isn't great but not half bad use of angles, the jab, the counter right, some of his opponents were rank novices though that any decent boxer would make a fool of

Fitz - not too bad counter punching style

Jeffries - little footage but he doesn't look like he has any basic level of skill, looks like he just wants to walk to his opponent and hold and wrestle/throw, which I suppose reflects his wrestling background, but not even using a jab or any lead punches

Burns - decent jab and counter right, looks a bit like a lesser Mickey Walker

It just seems a bit worthless to me. If Lewis came back today and lost to chiaora would you class him the new champion?
