Does raising your lead leg up stifle rear leg kicks?

i understand what he is getting at...a good counter to a right leg kick (meaning a kick to the upper thigh) is to step in and hit with your own right...if you throw the kick hard..meaning plant and really turning..you give the other guy more of a chance to get that counter in. But if he doesnt....he eats your kick and it will slowely take out his legs...my thoughts would be start out kicking not so hard..than kick up the power as you go? (but i am no kicker) anyhow its like anything else...every offense has a counter...

I dunno if it my favourite, but its definitely up there with the best.

Theres something so painful about watching a guy literally getting his legs taken out from under him.

Usually when someone throws the kick the inertia of the leg moving causes the fighter to rotate with it.

This guy's leg hopelessly bounces back...

You've probably seen this. But if not, enjoy

If impatient just go to 10 minutes in >>>

I love the ending when Hug knows he's just one leg kick away from victory, pauses, and then delivers Bernado's last rights in spectacular fashion.

A prime Butterbean would have killed him, he is now an ancient (older than Tyson) 400 pounds guy.

Edit:Sugar Eric Esch is actually 1 month younger than Tyson.

All that fat is incredibly bad for your body.

Also in a boxing match the Bean would have KO'd him.

The answer to the OP is yes and no. If a powerful roundhouse kick is not set up properly - it will be telegraphed. However, when the kick is used as part of a combination or set up with feints and timed properly so as to be unexpected - it can have devastating results.

The important thing to remember about kicking is that it is just like punching. There are round kicks and straight kicks and each one has it's use. The complete fighter is the one that knows how to use them all. Look at guys like Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, GSP, Cung Le, Carlos Condit, Frankie Edgar and Lyoto Machida for examples of how to use kickboxing properly.
