Had Vitali never QUIT against Byrd, and been wrongly treated for his back trouble, he'd have a MUCH better resume, and likely have Toney, Rahman, Ruiz, Holyfield, and Valuev on his resume. All by KO of course.
Add Haye to that, and if that don't make him a top 10 ATG, I don't know what does. But, as it stands, we can only rank him 10-20 or just outside those positions. Unlike Wlad, he's lacking 4-8 big fights in his prime, and he's got MAYBE another 2 in him if he decides to fight on. I sure wish Mitchell woulda won that fight last w/e. He and Haye might have cemented Vitali inside the top 10 for me.

He's a good champion in a weak era. Not everyone has to be ranked as an ATG.
Sometimes ya gotta except that you were just very good and not great. Nothing wrong with that. |

Vitali was into kickboxing and a 6 time champion, If he did not do that and went straight to
boxing there would be no injuries and he would have kicked ass alot more in boxing. Facts for you to consider. |

Vitali seems to be overrated by some, underrated but many. In truth I would say it's difficult to place him because he didn't have the fights in his prime that would have defined his level. What I think is undeniable is that his 11 fight unbeaten come back as a past prime fighter (who was out of boxing for 4 years) shows that he was a lot more in his prime than his resume suggests
