Not to diminish Paulie's accomplishment, but he really did beat a weak champion. Senchenko was a sitting duck to anyone outside the masturbatory circuit of low-grade challengers the WBA kept churning out for him after his one truly creditable triumph (over countryman Nuzhnenko, for what really only amounted to an honorary title since Sugar Shane was the real WBA champ at the time and ought to have instead been for something like the "Ukrainian welterweight title"...and that was a razor-thin contest, closer than the cards indicate, against a guy in Nuzhnenko who himself was never destined to achieve much at world level)
