I gave Wlad a couple of 10-8s.
Didn't Briggs hurt Lennox at the beginning of the 2nd as well? Either way, Lennox was in far worse trouble. Wlad was fine, hence why he slipped all of Wach's follow up shots and managed to grab on. |

What besides the eighth was a 10/8, you figure? My criteria is if I can't at least make a case for a standing eight count being imposed within the round (if it were a fight with that rule enforced), I don't do 10/8 on my own card. Yeah, Briggs hurt Lennox a little bit, from what I remember, sure, but he was nearly bowling him off balance charging after and it made it look like Lennox was far worse off than I thought he actually was. I thought he was in complete control of his senses, as Volo was. Granted, I've not seen that match in a while. Maybe I remember it differently. Time plays tricks on you.

Only think he was in more distress than Wlad(admittedly against a better fighter than Wach in every way but stamina) but I give a 10-8 if one guy is getting battered and lands NOTHING in return.
A few rounds like that. Maybe the 1st as well. |

10-8 rounds are REALLY subjective but i still like using them from time to time. think i scored two, no-knockdown rounds in gatti-mayweather 10-8 for instance

Riddick Bowe vs Tony Tubbs , Andrezj Golota #1 , Andrezj Golota #2 .
Bowe did not seem like a world beater in any of them , but : 1) he did deserve de decision over Tubbs although it was close . 2) de 1st Golota fight was very competitive , de 2nd 1 less , but still not what de legends about them tell . Golota #2 consisted of : 3 pt deductions , Bowe down 2 times , Golota down 1ce . Bowe possibly broke Golota's jaw in it . Golota suffered cuts both on his chin and above his i . How a fighter gets cut quite badly and gets his s floored in a fight that he wins so lopsidedly ? Regarding Golota vs Bowe #1 : 1) Golota was jobbed by having de fight rescheduled from de agreed 10 rds 2 12 rds instead . 2) Golota was jobbed by having Bowe using a different set of gloves than his (Golota's were conventional) . 3) Bowe did not fight a perfect clean fight himself , he did rabbit punch . These fights make me think that Lewis > Bowe indeed . As 4 who would have won between them i still do not know . McCall would have KOd Bowe just like I thought b4 . Bowe seemed 2b able 2 take punishment without going down , and when he did (3 times in his career , i believe) he got back up and fought . I really doubt that he could have beaten Vitali . Golota was tougher than Wladimir . Last edited by frankenfrank; 11-16-2012 at 06:32 AM. |

Laciar - Mathebula is the greatest midget staredown ever
![]() Laciar displayed tyson-like defense in the 2nd round. Nice awkward looping right by Laciar - classic argentinian style. Laciar mcclellan'd poor Mathebula out of the ring in the 4th round but corrupt referee saved him. But he only prolonged Mathebula's suffering. Merciless Laciar simply knocked Mathebula to the ground, trampled on him and made him beg for mercy. Good performance by young Laciar. |

as a disclaimer I've just put that list together now based on past socrecards I've found. If any results seem madly out of place that's probably due to a typo, same wth the fight distance I could have ****ed up a couple of them also.

Yeah, very impressive performance from Laciar. Not so sure still that Mathebula was all that based on one showing where he showed a lot of quality in a close fight with a good, but not brilliant, fighter.
Still, he was ranked and Laciar went over there and put a beating on him and agreed, he's a typically squat Argie stylist, lots of head and upper body movement, small steps and looping punches. |

Just watched tua v ibeabuchi.
Close fight but I thought tua edged it. Very good fight from first round to last and I think tua had quicker hands which helped him land the better shots in the exchanges. Great display of stamina by both men though. Got me thinking bout the Lewis era this. The two nearly men were tua and Byrd. I think both have an argument for being greater and better than shavers and young respectively. Great era the 90s. Lewis Holyfield Bowe Tyson Tua Byrd and then other guys like moorer, Morrison, mercer, golota, grant. Plus the cameo appearances by foreman and Holmes. |

Robert Guerrero UD12 Andre Berto
You got to love Guerrero. Four years ago the guy was a featherweight. He's just kept travelling north in search of money and the career defining fights he feels he deserves - he's calling for Mayweather and Pacquiao for years, you know he means it, and he's taken a step nearer with a FOTY the year candidate fought on HBO last night. Guerrero showed real depth in his abilities going all the way inside and keeping Berto under control with grappling and punching. There was some crying about excessive holding from Guerrero on HBO and it's being echoed by some next door, but that's BS, I think. Both were holding. Berto, aware that his speed advantage was being entirely nullified also wanted to make sure that his man wasn't working free with both his hands. They were both holding. The post-fight squabble between the two in the ring was a shame to see. They both also had serious eye injuries, Berto almost totally unable to see out of either eye, Guerrero struggling in the second half of the fight with his right eye which was also almost shut by fight's end. Didn't stop them both delivering for real. Berto's uppercut inside was a thing of real beauty, but he was always going to b struggling to close the gap after being knocked down once in the first and once in the second and the nature of the fight was such that Guerrero was able to take advantage of his higher workrate to nick most rounds inspite of Berto's often more eye-catching shots. Lots of punches thrown, a great fight. All three offical cards were 116-110, mine read the same way. Berto: 4,6,9,11 Guerrero: 1,2,3,5,7,8,12 |

Courtesy of Flea's channel, just got done watching Marcel thrash Antonio Gomez. I cannot fathom how any uncorrupted judge could possibly score that a draw as one apparently did. Maybe the guy was Gomez's father-in-law or something. He was beaten at every turn in this fight, though I do applaud his courage and conditioning. It was kind of annoying to see Gomez complain to the referee as much as he did. Marcel did land low on some occasions, and there was the odd clash of heads, but nothing terribly egregious.
Good action, and the first full fight other than his clash with Duran that I've seen from Marcel. |
