Default Rendall Munroe looked garbage tonight....

Did he even have a game plan or anything? he didn't even looked like he really tried to win and fought at a snails pace for the entire fight whilst it lasted.

He really needs to retire based on that performance.

Well done to Scott Quigg on a good performance though.

Pun of the week goes to...

Yep i think Rendall had lost a fair amount of his desire 18 months or so ago. But TBH he stuck with the Shinfields far to long and messed his own career up with bad decisions from not going full time pro soon enoug and getting better coaching to leaving Maloney for Hatton which ended up a horrible move.

Rendall's style was never going to be one that kept him at the highest level for a long time and i think he was out of his peak a while ago it was all ifs and buts whether he could perform but Quigg boxed lovely and credit to him and Joe G.

He was coming in straight lines with his slow ass footwork, he should have been coming in at angles giving Quigg something to think about, he was target practice in there, was expecting a competitive fight in that but after the first round Munroe just was there to play the role of stepping stone.

Frampton vs Quigg needs to happen in 2013.

Rendall doesn't do angles or straight punches sadly and your right he needed to do that. He really hasn't got any better since his European title days. The question was could he wear Quigg down but he couldn't get close because he made it easier for Quigg.

I'm not sure. Theres a couple of things to consider...with Munroe. Its not as cut and dry as 'he had a bad performance and should retire'

Look at his career...

- He's always inconsistent from one fight to next. Occasionally he looks good, but he doesn't half throw in some boring, insipid performances for no apparent reason.

- He's a slow starter, and had mostly always relied on his size and strength to come into play after round 6. This fight never really played out like that, Quigg used his speed and skills which any fighter ought to against Munroe and Rendall never got a chance to turn this into his kind of fight.

- Also is possible Munroe has lost the will at this level as Mand says. Might have thought he belonged at world class, gone from fighting Nishioka for a world title to domestic level dust ups. Some fighters can't get up for that again, if so he doesn't have much future in the sport because he's not genuine world class.

- Quigg may just be very, very good.

I dunno, I think he needs another fight to see where he's at, unless he knows himself he doesn't want it...of course.
