Indoor heavy bag options

Are freestanding bags bullshit?

What to do if I couldn't drill a hole in the ceiling?

Or put wallpads up obviously.

I've had one of those slam-man things for ages. To be honest, it has served me well but they rock about CRAZILY .... I also put a hole in the wall due to the repeated hits that my fist > slam man > wall.

You won't build power the same on one of them like you will a heavybag.

i know you said inside but i put a bracket on the outside of the house,put the bag up and down which is a pain. its not ideal but it works fine! + the bracket turns in a plant basket holder when the bags not on it which may please any other people you live with

I have a car park space that I won't be filling with a car, considering some shenanigans down there.

And maybe a floor to ceiling double end bag indoors?

I put a heavy bag in my garage. I didnt think the ceiling was strong enough to hang it there so I bolted two 4X2 planks of wood up each wall and then bolted a 4X4 beam across the top of them and hung the bag there. Good and strong and can get some pull ups done there too.
Just an idea for your parking space

i've got a stand for my heavybag and speedball, its fine for the heavybag, shit for the speedball. i just had to grind a bit off the bottom to make it sit flat on the floor and put a few weight plates on and its good to go. also if you buy a preacher bar or something then you can use the weights

I also live in a flat/apartment and want to install a heavy bag in my room. I couldn't give two fucks about the noise and how it will impact the lives of my neighbours and family members. I am willing to drill/hammer through anything and everything to make this happen. What does the training forum recommend?

I've just drilled the bracket into the wall and hang the bag from there. Fucked when I move out though, deposit down the drain

My gym has a legit standing punch bag, not like those flimsy ones but I reckon it's what you want. It's probably expensive but I'll get a brand and pic for you tomorrow if you want.

Cheers for the replies lads. That would be ideal cutthroat, i was looking at the standing bags but they always seem to get dodgy reviews. Would save me from destroying the walls in the flat as well.

My mate had the same problem...

He bought one of those pull-up bars that you can extend between your door frame and hung his heavy bag from there. The bar said it could support 300 pounds, so that was well enough. Not ideal as you can't move around the bag too much but better than nothing I suppose.

Know that wherever you hang that bag, there will be a lot of vibration going on in other parts of the house/apartment when using it. I once hung a 100 lb. heavy bag in my attached garage and one day while really getting after it, my wife ran outside saying her miniature glass figurines were falling out of a display hanging on the living room wall 2 rooms away.

Living in an apartment may bring some complaints by your neighbors when you use it. Just a bit of heads-up.

I'm looking for the same thing, but somehow I don't have confidence that my apartment's walls would be able to support it.

Back at my parent's place, I had a pull up bar you screw on door frames.
The door frame wasn't able to support the weight (I weighted only 150 lbs back then) and the door wouldn't close after a while.

I was considering this, as you said though, it's not ideal. I've got a pull up bar already so this might end up being my last resort if i can't get a decent standing bag.

I have the same problem with room Mr Small so I got a Slam Man.As has been mentioned as soon as you get any power going to the head section,it rocks about like fuck.I'd say it's only really good for hitting the chest area quite fast to build up cardio,but I'm glad I got it cheap because I'd have been gutted to have paid over two hundred quid for it.
There's a fold-down stand you can buy that I gave some thought to.
