Default Flintoff wins his 4 x 2 min round pro debut

Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff looks in good nic for his fight. Apparently he's lost 3 and 1/2 stone - about 23 kilos.

The big joke is his fight is only 4 x 2 minute rounds. So people who have paid good money for tickets will get to watch only 8 minutes of boxing - assuming it goes the distance

Flintoff a fit looking 216 pounds >>>

Dawson 241 pounds and looking a bit on the tubby side >>>

Best of luck to them both. Without double checking I think his opponent is 2-0 so that's fair enough. Apparently he looked pretty decent in sparring last week for a complete novice.

Richard Dawson, 2 fights and 'undefeated'.

Saw some footage of Freddie on the bag and he looked very ordinary. But it's not a caper you can learn with only a crash course.

Interesting that Dawson will have Ricky Hatton's trainer Bob Shannon in his corner.

I'm sure they'd have done their home work. Believe McGuigan is training Flintoff.

The story goes that McGuigan "hand picked Dawson as Flintoff's opponent".

Hardly a compliment to Dawson that he's been hand picked as the guy they think a career cricketer with a crash course in boxing can beat. Still he gets for his trouble the trip, a payday and an opponent he should have a chance of beating.

I wouldn't say 4x2 for a debut is unreasonable

Neither of these guys is going to go on and win titles. This fight is purely and simply about entertainment. All 8 minutes of it.

Sounds like a good deal for Dawson!

Definitely. But he was chosen specifically because they thought Flintoff could beat him. Hardly flattering for the guy.

He'd be getting well compensated for it.
