How can a three weight champion with one of the best resumes in the sport be an over hyped mess?

I'm hoping Trout wins. But I can't see him having the power to keep Cotto away from him. Cotto will probably stop Trout at some point.

There is a reason the gambling community is putting their money on Cotto, and there is a reason that Cotto's trainer handpicked Austin Trout as the next opponent for Miguel.

Cotto has beaten many fighters who adopt a defensive style similar to Austin Trout: Paul Malignaggi, Carlos Quintana, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Joshua Clottey, Yuri Foreman.

Miguel in fact knocked half of those guys out. The question you should ask yourself is: what makes Austin Trout better than these guys? He certainly doesn't hit harder than Zab Judah and Shane Mosley, and he certainly doesn't have better handspeed than Paul Malignaggi.

Cotto wins this 100% and he'll make it look easy too.

It's too close to call but I hope Cotto wins. I wanna see Cotto v.s. Canelo. If Trout beats him, Cotto might not make that big fight.

It's going to be a close fight. Trout is a southpaw, which makes the fight interesting. Now, Cotto in the past has dealt with southpaws and this hook the liver is lethal. That will be his money punch through the fight to break Trout down.

Trout is actually a fairly good boxer, but he's lacking in power. He could outbox Cotto for the first few rounds before Cotto start to break him down and win rounds. If Trout wants to win, he has to bank rounds early and not get hurt in the later rounds, which he will probably lose.

I could see Cotto pressuring and trying to land his hook to the body and Trout trying to box. I favor Cotto to stop Trout late, but I won't be surprised at a split decision either way.

All the examples you cited minus Foreman happened years and years ago, and at a lower weight class.
