Yeah, this fight ain't happing, ever. Can't think of a more significant wasted opportunity to stage a fight this big. The fight could still well happen in 2013 imo, with all the money still in the table for both of them to make of it before they soon retire. Thing is like you said it really isn't the fight it would've been in 2010, not by a long shot.

Exactly, Pacquiao relies on speed and athleticism but sadly both tend to be the first things to go with age. He's regressing from fight to fight. Floyd has lost a lot of foot speed and is also not the boxer he used to be, albeit less deteriorated than Pac due to superior skills. This fight with both fighters at their peaks in late 2009/early 2010 would have invigorated boxing (Floyd's peak was arguably a few years earlier but he was still magnificent three years ago).

it was a good lot of fighters at 140-147. Shame so mant fights were not made.

The 2 biggest misses were:

Not old enough to see the previous gens go. But I remember the batch of top dogs that departed when the current one took over. Tyson, Holyfield, Whitaker, Trinidad, Oscar, Tapia, Tszyu, among others. That was a sad time as well.

winner of mares-moreno, john or salido. I don't have a list although I do think he is near ATG material. A win against john or salido alone is big, quite a big achievement for a guy who started from flyweight. A win against ponce or caballero would also be something. All the big names at 122 are a big step up compared to his current weight, a fight against anyone of them is no joke.

Personally I'd like to see him test the weight first, fight someone less relevant like juanma before taking on the big names, then probably chris john. Ponce is a dangerous fighter, honestly a bit scared for donaire if he ever cross paths with the man

And Morales. And move up a few weights......Froch, Kessler, BHOP, Klitschkos. Cunningham and Adamek having a twilight rematch.

Yeah, there are transitions going on in all the wieght classes and theres dozens of great fighters ready to ride off into the sunset.

Let's hope that BHOP, Tarver, RJJ, and Holyfield don't try to continue into the next generation.

Paint me a loony, but I see signs of greatness in Danny G and Tyson Fury. Also, love him or hate me, Broner and Ward are gonna be greats even if they take a couple Ls as they move up and down for competition.

Shout out to Donaire, Jennings, Mares, Kirkland, Caneloe, Helenius, and Pulev as well. They might not be Goats, but they're all looking bright for HOF type careers thus far, even with a couple bumps in the road.
