GSP apparently asking for 50Mill

Around the 4 minute mark in the video the guy says GSP is earning around 8 mill per fight but for the A. Silva fight is going to ask for 50 million.



What on earth. The fight would have to do incredible ppv numbers to pay him that and thats if he wasn't in the pocket of the UFC.

The MMA Beat's Mike Straka recently said that UFC Welterweight champion wanted $50,000,000 to fight Anderson Silva.

"I was told by somebody very close to Georges that Georges today makes close to $8 million a fight," related Straka. "So to fight Anderson Silva he's going to ask for $50,000,000."

"Because he said that Georges has ten fights left in his career at $8,000,000 a fight. But he believes that Anderson could actually hurt him, could physically hurt him and end his career. So to take that chance he wants $50 million and that's exactly the number he's going to go to Dana White with."

Most fans were dismissive of the figure, and in an interview with Canada's 98.5 FM, GSP was too.

"I have not been informed of this, it is not true," said GSP. "Nobody told me about it and I am in France now, I have not seen the article."

I am sure the UFC could pay both Silva and GSP 50 million to make this fight happen. UFC is cheap and they wont even come close to that.

When Dana starts seriously trying to coerce Spider and Jones to go at it some big numbers are going to be talked at the negotiating table.

Lol. This card would have one fight on it, charge $70 for it, and will be held in the largest Arena in Brazil or Canada they can find and Dana White and Company would have to take a pay cut to make it happen. Something tells me Dana's going to tell him "Try again asshole".

But now Jon Jones knows what to ask for Minimum for the Silva fight.

The UFC's highest grossing event was Lesnar-Mir 2 with 1.6M buys, second highest was Lesnar-Carwin with 1.1M buys, and 3rd highest(tied) was Lesnar-Velasquez with 1.05M Buys.

Outside of Lesnar, the only match to break 1 Million buys was Liddell-Ortiz back in 2006. Everybody else has topped out at 1M or usually below.

Now this would be the largest fight in UFC history by far in terms of skill level. But to pay each guy $50M($100M total) plus an undercard of $5M (so $105M), never mind the cost of promotion they would need to sell 2.1M PPVs(with an average price of $50), and that assumes they have to pay cable providers nothing to show it. Now some of that is recouped in advertising(ring mat ads, official beer, etc.) and the live Gate. But still that's asking for double what either of these guys have accomplished in their careers and asking for 500K more than what Brock Lesnar, who had the WWE's hype machine behind him for years and was bringing a new fanbase to MMA with him, had done. I don't see that happening.
