Exactly. I copped flak making a joke admittedly in very poor taste after it happened. I have heard countless stories from people from the South Coast about Shannons thuggish past. Hopefully he has changed.

Im being harsh. I dont actually derive any pleasure seeing Shannon in his current state. But sometimes it irks me that as soon as some bad egg goes through some kind of hardship (OD, cancer etc), everybody seems to jump on the "He's a changed man" bandwagon. Based on what?


I remember the Chaser boys wrote a controversial song about this, ripping on the fact that as soon as someone dies, we put them on a pedestal. Effectivley shunning the fact that whilst they were alive, there were massive ****heads. It was an absolute classic in my books:

"And Brocky was some revhead,
Who pumped the air with pure lead,

Stan Zemanek's wife called the chaser and begged them to leave the part about her husband out because she was still grieving. They put it in anyway which i thought was poor form

After Zemanek died a talkback caller rang a rival station and asked the presenter if he'd be attending Stans funeral and the radio announcer said "the only reason i'd attend Stans funeral was to make sure he was dead"
