Default Mark de Mori - the most padded career in Aussie boxing

(Note: This thread began on Bowie Tupou. But as only 1 of the 15 posts in the thread was about Tupou its been re-named in line with its content and the Tupou thread recreated elsewhere)

Bowie Tupou will fight Bryant Jennings on December 8 in Philadelphia. Tupou is coming off a recent TKO loss against Malik Scott.

Looks like Bowie Tupou has grabbed the opportunity that Mark de Mori missed.

I think Mark is relieved Bowie is taking the fight so he doesn't have to take a risk and step up, now he can talk the talk again about top ten fighters avoiding him to justify him fighting stiffs

With team de Mori having turned down Bryant Jennings, it will be interesting to see who they match Mark up with in his place. Expect a disappointing announcement shortly.

Mark agreed to the fight inside of about 2 hours. Unfortunately his promoter didn't agree to releasing him to box on a rival promoters card on National TV. Best of luck to Bowie. Hope he gives Jennings a real shake.

It's a pity Mark's team is pulling in different directions. But he chose to sign on a second time with King, and that made King a contracted part of team de Mori - again.

You agreed when Bryant Jennings got turned down this thing could end up stinking to high heaven - and it has and does.

It happens all the time in boxing. Fights come up and get knocked back by promoters/managers for whatever reason. Hopefully it's something that can be revisited.

Meanwhile I sense the announcement of a keep busy fight to follow the keep busy fight that followed the other keep busy fight.

Which would be better than doing absolutely nothing.

But not a whole lot better when you are fighting the Troy Weidas of the world.

Then I can only presume you don't know a great deal about moving fighters. Ask any boxer if they'd rather sit on the shelf or keep active, and I know what the answer will be.

I agreed with you. My response above was "but not a whole lot better."

Knocking out aged guys nowhere near you own level like Calloway & Weida proves virtually nothing. It's a tragedy those guy kept putting themselves through the hidings they copped in the latter stages of their careers.

Encouraging guys like Damon Reed to make comebacks, and Calloway & Weida to continue when it's no longer in the interests of their wellbeing is just poor form.

I just wish I had a dollar for every time you mentioned his name.

As much as I'd love to sit infront of my computer all night and read your Bowie Tupou thread, I can't. Like I said, you don't appear to know much about moving fighters and obviously have little understanding of the business side of the sport.

Your original response didnt mention Weida, it just said "it's not much better", but thats fine. With a limited budget you're only going to get a certain level of fighter. If you think it's about "proving" something like you say, then you're missing the point.

If an offer akin to the Jennings one presents itself at least he'll have been active heading in. Sitting on the sidelines never helps a boxer.
