He quit in his 20s, with less than 20 fights to his name. But kudos, you got me looking, you sneaky so and so!

Of recent years, I quite liked Cosme Rivera.

However, he is still active, and James Hare may have been top-10 when he beat him.

Okay, then what about Herbert Slade.

He stands out as probably the most famous fighter to never beat a top 10 fighter. Actually, i am not even certain he ever one a fight. Yet he is still reasonably well known nearly 100 years after his death.

This is very true. I have heard both chavez and roy jones jr get harassed for fighting bums, along with other modern fighters. However, for some reason Pernell Whitaker seems to be bulletproof from this kind of criticism. His resume really isn't much better than thiers, and even if it is, his resume is barely better. Whitaker on this forum gets treated like he has the accomplishments of Ali.

I don't think Tony Tucker ever beat a fighter who was consensus top 10 at the time. So there might be your answer.

(Buster Douglas may have rounded out the top ten for no reason.)
