Default Chi town boxing?

Why the hell don't we ever see any boxers from Chicago? Any names come to mind more recently?

It seems like Chciago sucks in every single aspect when compared to cities like LA NYC DC

Carlos Molina, the light middleweight who's fought Kirkland, Lara, Chavez Jr., and Cintron, (not the lightweight Carlos Molina fighting Khan next week) is from Chicago. There is also lightweight David Diaz who's family still lives in my neighbor hood. I've also run into Andrew Golota at ironically a Golden Nugget dinner.

All our good fighters are playing basketball and getting drafted #1. The midwest has the best fighters

Chicago is a weak fight town given how big it is. The last semi-decent fight to come through was Karmazin vs Adama. I remember how empty the arena was when they held Juan Diaz vs Julio Diaz here. People just don't seem to get into boxing around here.

The problem with Chicago is most of the fighters are poorly trained.

Most of the trainers here are not very good trainers.

Molina is the best fighter in Chicago by far right now.

Lack of gyms would be my guess. In 1970's and 1980's there were still a lot of guys coming out of Chicago. There was an Italian lightweight contender, can't remember name, I think he became trainer after he retired. (Johnny Lara?) More gyms =more fighters. Imagine if Manny Strwerd never opened Kronk
