They hate scotty cos hes a bad egg, they hate Rickster cos hes a good egg... seems us jocks cant win! Maybe the magic ingredient is to be half good, half bad. Jeckyll & hide style. So a liked scottish fighter would be a cross between scotty & the rickster.

meet Ricky Harrison.

A guy who loves life, & even finds time to help out in his local sports shop, buys his dog a McDonalds to celebrate a win, but cant help stealing crisps from tesco & beating up spanish whoremasters. He has bleached blonde hair, a dark goatee beard, tattoos & has a hairy chest & back wears pink gloves.

Good on him, he's earning decent cash but as anyone can see with Exhibit A: Scott Harrison;
the benefits of being world champ and earning good cash without ****all to take up your time are dangerous. Good on Burns, a real, decent human being, that't what he is and that's a ****load more important than being any bigshot who doesn't know what to do with himself.

I'm glad for Ricky and hopefully kids see that it.

Tippex for trainers

Personally speaking, it would be a great buzz to walk into a sports shop, & see a world champion boxer working there. I know, cos I experienced seeing a scottish legend working in a sport shop.

I remember back in the day in argyle street in Glasgow city centre a certain Gary Jacobs worked in a sports store, when he was boxing & in his prime like Ricky. Gary Jacobs went onto fight the P4P no1 Pernell whittaker, AND floor him on the way to a brave points defeat.

I was a young laddie then, & didnt go up to tell Jacobs how much I loved and respected him as a fighter. You know how it is at that age, wheras now I am nearly 40 I would happily approach a boxer in the same situation & get all soppy & starstruck in front of a xmas rush

Put it this way, where else in the world would you get to see a european champion who floored a P4P legend, & a current world champion quietly doing their thing in a shopping store at the weekend in different decades?

THATS why I love scottish fighters

I love that he still does it. Could have ****ed it off ages ago if he wanted to. It's not like that 50 a week is what he's relying on, get real people.

With all the lazy good for nothing spongers in this country who think that they are owed a 'living', many of them now 2nd or even 3rd generation benefit reliant losers, it seems just crazy to mock a man for having two jobs!

Haters gotta hate.
How are people taking this seriously as if he needs those hours to help him pay the bills.

I never understand it when famous people say "it helps me keep my feet on the ground"

What does that even mean?

So Ricky knows he's better than JJB, but still works there to keep it real with the
Minions of society?

If he wants to work there, good luck to him.

Thinking about it, Ricky seems a standup bloke so he probably does just do it for fun. Perhaps my earlier comments should be reserved for the more pretentious

That's awesome. My respect for him has shot right up

edit; He was probably worried he'd end up an egomaniac like Hatton, which is fair enough

I think it sums him up as a person, he admitted that he doesn't do any work people just come in to talk to him all the time People moan about pre madonna's who don't know what it's like to be in the real world, then someone who doesn't need to live in the real world (within reason) gets a job he doesn't need working in a sports shop to keep himself grounded and people still moan and take the piss?

Its a smart move, he's doing a paid "public appearence", mingling with people who will then potentially purchase a ticket to his next fight. I'm sure his boss loves the extra people coming through his doors.

Maybe he has good friends there? Maybe he has good relations with the owner from his youth? Maybe he just likes to be busy instead of counting money like other fighters? Cut the guy some slack
