That was before he was promoting himself using a bought WBA Superchampion belt, he was promoted by Universum then. Íner explains how he was allowed to cherry pick and evade mandatory defenses by becoming Superchampion. Makes perfect sense to me.

while ducking Golovkin, someone no one else wants step up against either, Sturm still fought better competition than anyone else did at 160lbs recently

Felix Sturm needs to fight Golovkin in order to change his reputation. Golovkin is very keen on fighting with him.

I can't wait for GGG hype job to go down.

Sturm was on money train with universum, I sure they could of got more risky, but I would not say he is a cherry picker.

I have to agree with you to some degree. He fought some decent guys, but he insisted on fighting in Germany, avoiding Martinez and Williams. Not to mention Golovkin.

The GGG hype job going down? Who is going to shoot him down? Bute?

The fact remains that Sturm would pick and choose his opponents without the risk of getting stripped for not fighting his mandatories. Just look at Geale, he was basically told you either defend your belt or get stripped, without even giving him atleast one pick of his choice before defending the belt. What Oner is saying has a lot of truth to it.

Looks like Geale forgot to grease the WBA assholes in Panama with a suitcase filled with 200,000 in cash.

No one outside of Germany even knows who he is because of his lackluster opposition over the years. How can these guys consider themselves champions when the entire world knows it's someone else.
