I like McGuigan and always have.

He knows his stuff and he isn't afraid to be critical about a performance.

I admit he does interupt quite a bit and that is ocassionally annoying, but I sometimes feel that you have to be that way on Sky to get a word in!

Nelson and McClory do it just as much.

I read Barry's autobiography a few months back and it is a really good read; it gave me a new respect for him when you read about just how hard he has worked to get where he is and also how much of an importnat role he played in bringing people together during a very troubled time.

Barry offers an opinion, and isn't influenced by anyone in the studio.

I'd rather have those types of opinions, SKYs problem is they daren't have someone else just as passionate about their opinions for Barry to knock heads with. Johnny just tends to shit himself and follows the party (SKYs) line, and lets Barry bully him.
SKYs football coverage with Keys and Gray proved that they want nice safe, and largely ignorant coverage, telling the punters what the channel want them to believe.
They did the same thing with useless Redknapp, no wonder Neville was so popular for telling it how it was, it was a breath of fresh air.
I'd rather have someone who likes to mix it up a bit, and boxing would be great to hear differing opinions between fights.
We're all grown ups, lets here what people think, rather than being spoon fed crap.

Differing opinions is what its all about, which a few that post on here could do with understanding. You don't have to stick with it to the death just because you've got a particular opinion. We aren't politicians, being wrong doesn't have to be career suicide.
We're fight fans, and no ones opinions are infallible.

Perhaps I didn't word what I trying to say in a very good way. Yes, McGuigan offers something other pundits don't in terms or passion and opinion, what I can't stand is his attitude.

For me he seems to have this "I'm right and if you disagree with me you know nothing" manner. I can't stand any snobby people like that. I remember when he was on Ringside with Quigg and Munroe. He kept trying to force the "Frampton is better than these two" down theirs and the viewer's throats and when Scott and Rendall just laughed at him he got rattled. All because he can't stand being told he's wrong.

Munroe killed him as well. When Barry went; "Why would I say I want Carl to fight these two if I didn't think he could beat them?" Rendall just said back; "Because other wise your man (Frampton) ain't getting nowhere."

Owned.

Sounds like he just needs someone equally strong willed, to go up against him and not frightened to go head to head.
Alternatively a presenter with enough gravitas who can tell him to shut up and let his other guests have a go.

I like Barry always thought he was the best pundit not afraid to voice an opinion and that opinion is more often than not the true opinion of the general boxing public on any particular fighter.

This inevitably has been a bit diluted recently with Frampton and when talking about the SBW mix but he believes Frampton is the real deal and you can't knock him for that.

He brings a passion that McCrory, Nelson etc etc dont as a result when he cuts in its usually cutting through the crap to offer a genuine opinion or spark a debate.

well I do, and to be fair he's a sound guy. Helped me out when I was boxing, sent signed pictures to my dad and friends. Offered me some work post-boxing.

He's a good guy - in real life he's actually very different from the pundit you see on the telly.

Good to know, he does strike me as a proper fella so what you say isn't a surprise as such, his enthusiasm for the sport is brilliant and by far the best pundit on Sky.
