Id go with Burns on points in this one, more seasoned, more dedicated and at this stage just an all round better fighter.

Burns is a genuine world class fighter and for all the amateur promise shown by Gavin, he hasn't looked capable of reaching that level as a pro. You'd have to very strongly favour Ricky in this one.

Burns. Burns is a complete pro who would go in there with the experience and knowledge that he can start smashing away at Gavin from the first round to the round he wilts.
Burns is by no means a flawless boxer but its clear that he has overcome the demons that stopped him reaching that potential earlier on his career against fighters he had the ability to beat. A good few years ago Mitchell would have been an interesting fight, Burns would have been alot more cagey. But now, you can see Burns has alot of confidence and is likely disgusted with the notion that a fighter like Mitchell is perceived to be on his level. The same would have probably been true of Walsh. The next test for Burns is the next level of competition and we are talkign about fighters like Broner not Mitchell or Walsh. |
