I dont think the next PPV star can pick up a vacant spot once mayweather or Pac retires, they have to convincingly steal it from them. so someone like Canelo needs to face Mayweather and dethrone him
Also same goes with the likes of Broner and Gamboa, I think they need to face of with each other and then the winner taking on Pacquiao. Broner can beat all the world champions out there, Burns, Garcia, Rios but still will always be a HBO championship boxer, it has to be Pacquiao to take it to the next level or Mayweather. just like Floyd and Pacquiao career went to the next level once they defeated De la Hoya. They need to get better to beat one of the two, and FAST. Unfortunately, if mayweather and or pacquiao leave without losing, then it will be very VERY damaging to boxing. Hell, look at what happened when lewis just up and retired. These two need to fight younger guys if they love the sport.

There just isn't that guy out there right now that has the combination of persona, talent, appealing style, age, and weight class range for the mantle to be passed. The closest thing right now in terms of all those factors is probably Broner, but neither Floyd or Pac will be around long enough and Broner comes off as a Floyd knockoff anyway. So there probably won't be a megastar on that level, but boxing will survive, hopefully by making better matchups/cards.

![]() ![]() Nobody paying to see that boring fucker bore everyone to fucking death. He will NEVER be a draw NEVER be an attraction and will NEVER be a PPV star. He's in a shitty division now, the one above him is even worse and to top it all off he is THE most boring fighter of the last 60 years undeniably.

Ward, Donaire, Broner, Alvarez.
Alvarez is the only one there who'd ever fight either of them, with an outside chance of Broner if he moves up 2 more divisions real soon. |

I don't agree with that. If Mayweather or Packie is not there, so be it. A star is gonna shine regardless. His persona and the way he demostrates in the ring will demand attention from the public and they will pay to see him. Canelo needs to clean up 154, starting with Trout and working his way through. Then, if Money is still hanging around after that, yeah, bust him up and send him on his way. You gotta climb the mountain to claim the summit, not fly up on an airplane and act like you deserve some props. Now Broner is different, He was born to be a star. Ain't no stopping that young motherfucka. Like Roger says, he got the skills to pay the bills.People don't watch him and be looking for Mayweather, they watch him because he performs with style, and he never lets them down.
