If the fight is in Japan, Gamboa has had a good reception over there. He won't make Pacquaio money but better than $50K.

Waste of time. Gamboa needs to fight a marquee opponent at this stage of his career. I'd like to see him on the fast track to 135 where a showdown against Broner would give him the type of platform that's been eluding him.

Uchiyama is the clear number 1 at 130 now that Broner has left. It would be a massive fight for Gamboa. It would be Gamboa's toughest opponent to date.

A win against Uchiyama and thus collecting another meaningless strap, although nice, does nothing really for Gamboa at this stage of his career. In the risk/reward equation, it's a fight that offers very little. Beside, Gamboa has been regarded as the best in his division before and what has that gotten him? He still hasn't fought a marquee opponent for elevated stakes and for big money.

You've mistakenly inferred the point of my post which has nothing to do with Uchiyama's abilities nor does it have to do with the capabilities of foreign fighters in general.

Hmm that's the best fight out there for him at 130. Uchiyama has amassed a very respectable resume since taking Salgado apart. And Salgado has shown he's no joke either by notching several good wins since.

This. Uchiyama beat the snot out of Salgado and was still going for the KO even though he was clearly ahead in the last round. Gamboa should absolutely be the favorite but Uchiyama punishes mistakes and will test his fitness like no other opponent will .
