Default Does good guy vs bad guy really exist in boxing?

We hear terms like this all the time to sell a fight, "good vs. bad" but does It really exist in boxing? I know it's the best way to sell a fight, as well as race, but in my opinion it doesn't really exist if you consider the fact that the intent of both fighters is really to render the other unconscious. Thoughts.

It's more of a selling point really.

They act like assholes to get hated and still get people who wants to see them get beat up.

However, in terms of grudges, some holds truth to it.

Hagler and Hearns are true professionals, but when they were set to fight tension was always high.

@SugarShane

I too believe it's more of a selling point but I think some people go overboard when truly examining the sports so called good guys and bad guys. It's real easy to buy into someone's bull**** but when people start judging fighters based on persona it ruins the sport as a whole, puts asses in seats, but divides fans in ways that are poisonous. Afterall how many times have we been duped as fans believing that an athlete was on the up and up, only to find out later, things were not as they seemed. I was told persona is what people believe you to be, but character is who you are.

Yeah it's a point of view and personal preference. I'm sure some of these guys are complete *****s though.

David Haye did a recent interview and when asked about a future in Hollywood Haye said "I've been acting my entire life. The Hayemaker persona is an act..."

Before a fight these guys are macho,posturing,strutting and after it's like they just got a blow job. Nothing can bother them and they're cool,calm etc.

Yes, "El Pollo" Void is void................I posted years ago that Void would never fight Pac for any amount of money. This post has now been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt!

That is good question. Has their ever been an bad boxer who has never touched gloves, shake anyones hand and never smiles? Mike Tyson would come close, but still would touch glove depending on his mood. Maybe Liston as I've never seen pictures of him smiling.
