I didn't know that. Wish I would have seen it, The today show and GMA never had anything announced who they would have on there, at least I didn't see it at the time. I got some of the Hagler/Mugagi and Hearns/Shuler card on GMA. The one I have has David Hartman. I think that was hit name.

The Hearns/Leonard fights were always back and forth and unpredictable. If one guy tried one tactic then it would change and another one had another for a few rounds or hurt the other guy. It is odd because Virgil Hill was easier for Tommy to beat than Ray in 1989, and Ray in 1989 was not as good. Styles do make fights for sure.

yeah they were. Even when you see them interviewed together now they seem to match each other well. Ray pushes Tommy in fun and jokes. Interesting relationship, and Roberto and Ray and Tommy all like each other and hug. Marvin is coming around, it is taking him longer, but it is happening. This what I love about boxing, they all end up friends in the end. Not the same for other sports, except tennis. I notice tennis players become good friends. Maybe the one on one sports creates more respect. Who knows.

There isnt another major sport in the world where respect and honor isnt used as much as it is in boxing, when you get your ass handed to you, you have nobody to blame but yourself and you have to respect your opponent or you have no business in any sport let alone boxing.

It was indeed Ray's greatest victory, imo. I do feel, however, that Hearns lead has been a trifle exaggerated over the years. The Hitman was ahead, but not by that much. |
