The reason i ask this is because i was watching some of his fights again and when he knocked Galento down the first time just look at Galentos left foot he transfers all his weight onto it and then gets hit by the Louis left and he lifts off the ground it was unbelievable Galento 240 pounds or whatever he was, has anyone hit another human harder than Joe Louis could hit somebody? And i'm talking about adding his speed power accuracy all into one, not brute force but a well timed fast power punch from Louis

This is a great thread!..I watched that fight just now, Joe coulda used his jab a little more and I cannot believe big Tony got up from gettin put on his ass..but the left hook he drops Louis with is unbelievable. As far a short rage fast accurate and caused major injury, You wont find a better right hand than Louis did!...I mean he broke 3 of Schmelings vertebra, and his jaw in the same fight, both vicious right hands.

foreman his final knockdown in the first frazier fight.
Boxers getting lifted off the ground have more to do with themselves than getting blown up by punch. |

True to a certain degree. A better example than the 1 you gave IMO is a few of Tysons early fights where he sent the poor guy literally flying across the ring

The final blow in that fight was the hardest. Watch how
Louis put his entire bodyweight behind that last hook. Nearly decapitated Galento. I believe Louis was the only man ever to floor Tony in a pro bout. |

I do think that there have definitely been harder one punch hitters than Louis, but his timing was so exquisite and his punching so perfectly executed, that his knockouts had an almost comical quality about them at times. It's almost like something out of a comic book, the way his opponents fell.
The most extraordinary puncher I've ever had the pleasure to witness. Amazing. |

He also did the best feints I ever saw. Incredile timing. In the top 5 fastest hands @HW and full of raw power. The greatest puncher ever along with Langford.

A few comments on Joe Louis as the most perfect puncher who ever lived. Powerful legs, muscular structure, uncanny leverage and perfect balance make Louis the No1 heavyweight destroyer...Yet I reflect on a prime Louis hitting a human punching bag Abe Simon with everything in his arsenal for 13 rounds before Simon was stopped in 1941...
Thirteen rounds ! I cannot envision lumbering Abe Simon lasting 3 rounds with the prime Jack Dempsey who destroyed an iron jawed Jess Willard [really in the first round], pancaked the crude but powerful Angel Firpo in 2 rounds, Fred Fulton in a minute, Carl Morris and Gunboat Smith all in one round...Dempsey's style was akin to a Roberto Duran in sheer viciousness and killer instinct whilst Joe louis's style was a forerunner of the great lightweight Alexis Arguello...Leverage and timing...My No#3 puncher was the young powerhouse Mike Tyson... When young he was a force of nature.... |

That's why i said watch Tony's left foot he transfers all of his weight onto it and then gets hit with the left and gets lifted up this is one of the times where a punch can lift a 240 pound man, truly amazing
