Was his skills poor so far and right now he just got better in terms of skill level ![]() It is obvious to anybody whose eyes are not blind that Marquez is larger, stronger and that his improved physique is the real reason he was able to put PAC to sleep. I do not thing that it is any shame in that or it should be denied or diminished, its good for Marquez he is stronger and can knock ANYBODY out with his improved muscles ... unless he has something to hide and he became regular PED user and cheater. I personally do not think he used PEDs or he cheat but he should admit himself that his grown up muscles were the real reason he was able to knock PAC out .... not his skill level which gave him nothing in the previous three fights. |

Absolutely true.
It was about Pacquiao not seeing the shot, moving right into it, the timing & execution... The fact that Marquez weighed (unofficially) 148 as opposed to whatever he'd rehydrated to the first three times may have added some oomph, but the fact is it took him 42 rounds to find that perfect counter punch on the button. Had he done so in any of the previous 41, Pacquiao very likely still would have been KTFO. |

It was a collision that knocked him out. It was skill and timing. There is nothing better than two skilled ATGs going at it. Im a Pac fan (actually of both) and I was happy that Boxing showed the world how its done. No potshotting BS. Two skilled warriors going for it.
Like JMM said, He could have knocked me out any minute. Remember, for two guys making in excess of 40 Million in this fight, it would have been very easy to take it to a decision. |

--------------------- The real question is: would that work vs Floyd? - would be Marquez in the same shape .... no .... he would be blood drained form tens Ollimpic tests done before the fight, and he would be cheated again on the scale so no fantastic shape and additional weight disadvantage - would be Floyd timed properly .... Floyd is safety first so it is hard to time someone who rolls his shoulder more often than he throws punches. - would be Floyd out of position: yes but in the other direction since Floyd moves backward never forward - failing into shot: never as mentioned above - punch connected to the jaw: not, since Floyds jaw is always protected by his shoulder - foot stepping: I doubt this would work in Marquez favor, it would bring the traditional elbow shots and the cheap sneaky punches (during the break and after the bell) to the table |

Translation: It's my skills, not the PEDs that enabled me to knock him out. Also, I never took PEDs, and even if I did use PEDs so did all the other top boxers.... but I didn't.

Skill wins elite Boxing matches. Anyone who doesn't think so should find another sport.
If muscle won fights then Jeff Lacy would be the GOAT. |

would be OFFICIALLY 4-0 vs PAC. You did not assume here that the other boxer has his own skills. Marquez skill was enough to get him to the point where he is now. But his skill was not enough to get a nod in three previous fights with PAC not even his skill was impressive enough to get pass Chris John and he was just barely beating OLD Barrera, not mentioning all the schooling he got from Floyd. So skill alone is enough when you fight unskilled opponent, but when you fight someone as skilled as you, then you need other advantages in the pocket. Additional pop was a good choice vs PAC, that would probably be enough to knock out Chris John as well but that probably would not work vs Mayweather, simply Marquez style is wrong vs Maywether, he is not aggressive enough to capitalize with his style and muscles.
