I love the way Conan even had the clip of Golota biting Po'uha in there!

I wish we could steal a Delorean, take that version of Golota to the current day, and see what happens. I'm still not sure he'd beat a Klitschko, but he would beat the shit out of Povetkin, Haye, Adamek, Chambers, Fury, and Price.

Did you hear the special affects biting sound they added when they showed the bite?



I'm not sure a prime Golota could beat a Klitschko either but I always thought that would have been a great match-up provided he showed to the fight with the kind of confidence he had against Bowe. I think Vitali would have been to tough for him but I can see him having a good chance against Wlad.

Golota of 1996 versus Wlad from before he started working with Emanuel Steward - I think THAT Golota had a shot against that Wlad. It would be, I think, a matter of who landed a big right first. Golota of 1996 would have been able to jab with the pre-Steward Wlad, I think. I do not give him much of a shot, because I think Wlad is much more intelligent inside the ring that Andrew ever was, and I reckon Wlad finds an early opening for a sledgehammer right on Andrew, but who knows. It's boxing.

Vitali's chin and mental toughness make him a tall order for even the '96 Golota. Maybe ;96 Golota against a really green version of Vitali or an extremely old Golota would have a shot! But even then, you may have to combine the physical 1996 Golota with the mental state of a 2004 Golota!

Wow. Golota actually said he meant to throw low blows. That's the first time i heard him saying that.
Golota was more relaxed than i thought he would be. Also he had some swagger back then.

He's slow as usual but what do you expect from a guy in his mid 40s and it's not like his opponent Saleta will be much faster. Good to see Andrew in good shape again, he's been looking a little chunky in recent years. Wonder what weight he will come in. My guess is lower to mid 240s which would be a big improvement than what he showed up at against Adamek in his last fight.


The first time I ever saw Golota fight was in March of '96. Nearly 17 years later and he will be once again stepping into the ring for the last time. Hopefully he can win this last one for his fans and retires for good. Although Golota has NO chin anymore so I wouldnt be surprised if he gets knocked out, even by this old bum.

Watching it now. His hand speed is painfully slow like you mention, but surprisingly enough he looks quick of foot all things considered.

He does look to be in good shape, but like you said, he declined too fast in too many areas so expectations are extremely low.

Also interesting to see Golota work with Gmitruk now, whom I believe he also worked with at points during his amateur career.
