Before the Rios fight Abril was virtually unknown, after the fight [And his Victory] given his almost non-existent standing among the majority of fans & casuals, he cemented himself as an opponent to avoid - most will ask 'Who is Abril?', yet he's a very skilled, capable, physically difficult fighter.
Good stuff from Broner. Abril is probably the worst fight at 135 in terms of risk / reward. |

excellent fight, glad Abril is getting his shot, he earned it by winning 11 of 12 rounds vs Rios and getting robbed. The fight won't be exciting but that ain't wehat it's about I respect Abril for making the most of what he has and for high ring IQ. 8-4 type decision for Broner. Props to Broner- a fight no one was clamoring for him to take, high risk/low reward.

yer i praise broner for picking great comp. if he gets a win on abril i will put him inside my p4p top 10 and he is def my pick for PPV star after pac and may both retire. i really hope he makes it to 140 because that division is boiling hot right now and could really do with a fighter who has skills and balls

He's fighting Abril? Has this been confirmed?
Good shit, if true! Although Broner's style will prevent him from looking bad like most others would against Abril, it's still a decent choice of opponent. Somewhat high risk with little reward. I say 'somewhat' because the worst that will happen is Abril will make him look not-so spectacular. That's all. Don't think he'll upset him. But yeah, props to Billionaire Broner. Interesting matchup. |

All Abril's loses have come by SD, all of them could be called 'robberies' (by ESB standards anyway) I suspect a 4th questionable SD loss is coming up for him.

Yup, don't like the guy on a personal level but I respect what he's doing since moving up in weight. Let's hope that hunger remains.

If Prescott had better stamina Alvarado would not even be fighting Rios. Btw if you lose a decision to Prescott like Abril did, you are not world class. |
